James

James

WOW FACTOR:

In addition to sporting a lot of black clothing, James has a couple decades’ worth of experience heading up design projects for major international brands. One of which you may now be wearing, sipping or sitting upon.

WHAT YOU’D LEARN ON A ROAD TRIP WITH HIM:

He will actually stop and ask for directions, but only when his iPhone is outside its coverage area.

FAVORITE STORE:

Salumi’s at lunch. It’s a 300sf. eatery run by the family of famous chef Mario Batali. “The food is great, but what I really love is watching the line snake out the door with people waiting 2 hours for a sandwich.” A sight to warm any retailer’s heart.

FREE TIME:

No such thing. He’s busy remodeling the kitchen or refurbishing his 120-year-old Brunswick pool table. No idle hands here.

COOLEST THING he's done LATELY:

Driving a one man lift while installing merchandise displays at Legacy Group Workspace.

Susie

Susie

WOW FACTOR:

Susie displays her talents for retail design in SO many ways – she’s already become a fixture. She puts her special spin on design and planning, bringing her master’s thesis to life in the real world of retail. We’ve got her exploring options for AAA Cruise & Travel and building brand for Edifice Construction, there’s no end to the adventure!

WHAT YOU’D LEARN ABOUT HER OVER A SCOOP OF BLUE BIRD ICE CREAM:

She’s the youngest of 7 children and comes equipped with 12 nieces and nephews, soon to be a baker’s dozen! The girl can field a softball team or provide an impromptu family flash mob at a moment’s notice.

HER “MUST HAVES”:

Sunshine, repeat after me, sunshine! A girl from the dry side (Eastern Washington) who’s now in Seattle can dream, can’t she? Add a grande two pump toffee nut, two pump white mocha americano from Starbucks, combine with a day planner and you’ve got a highly caffeinated and highly organized individual – ready to take on WHATEVER! Right NOW!

FAVORITE STORE:

The last one she visited! And it’s one of the reasons she’s found her forte in the realm of retail, she loves the new and different and fabulous! Shop on Susie…

COOLEST THING SHE’S experienceD LATELY?

A delicious evening spent dining at Canlis celebrating her two-year wedding anniversary.

Kerry

Kerry

WOW FACTOR:

Speaks both left and right brain fluently. And translates. She’s been in the graphic design business since the 70’s, yeah, before disco. Her client list is often mistaken for the Pacific Northwest’s list of Who’s Who.

AFTER YOU SHARED A FISH TACO WITH HER YOU’D KNOW THAT:

She has a freakish fascination with Great White Sharks. And she has never taken a vacation during the Discovery Channel’s "Shark Week". EVER.

HER PERFECT LUNCH HOUR:

Shopping - she’s an apex consumer, an über shopper, an unashamed fan of retail therapy. She doesn’t always buy...hey, it’s all about the experience.

FAVORITE STORE:

Sesame and Lilies. What a fantastic concept full of one-of-a-kind fabrics, furniture, antiques, seashells, and a luxurious sense of beach cottage style. She took one look around and said “I’ve found my tribe!”

COOLEST THING SHe's SEEN lately:

A humpback whale in the middle of stormy seas in the Strait of Juan de Fuca.

John

John

WOW FACTOR:

John takes on a retail design challenge like he crafts his world class apple-cherry pie: assembles the freshest ingredients, seasons it with new perspectives, adds a dash or two of his extensive construction experience, and bakes it all up with his eye on the dough.

WHAT YOU'D LEARN ABOUT HIM OVER A BACON MAPLE BAR FROM VOODOO DONUT IN PORTLAND:

He started inspecting construction sites before he could walk, riding on his father’s shoulders. Had a workbench loaded with tools by the time he was 4, and went from nailing his first roof at 10 to nailing an architectural degree after a stint as a general contractor.

FIRST ON HIS LIST OF "FIRSTS":

A member of the first Xbox beta testing team and yes, he’s MORE than capable of beating his nephews on Halo.

HE'S WELL TRAVELED:

He lived in Japan for awhile, and at 6’ 7” tall he was heads above the rest from Tokyo to Hokkaido (and all sushi joints in between).

FAVORITE CHARITY:

Camp Good Times, a summer camp for kids with leukemia; he’s been a volunteer there for 16 years, carrying on a family tradition of fund-raising and fun-raising.

COOLEST THING HE'S DONE LATELY?

Confirmed Guinness does taste better in Ireland.

STEPHANIE CLARKE

STEPHANIE@5IVECREATIVE.COM

WOW FACTOR:

Interior designer, planner, and Photoshop Diva. She started her career in Starbucks International Store Design department – creating award-winning stores in Latin America with an accent on re–branding environments. Now she speaks 5ive fluently – and we couldn’t be happier.

WHAT YOU’D LEARN WHILE SHARING A RAGIN’ CAJUN SANDWICH WITH HER:

She spent most of her life in Alaska and has eaten elk, moose, deer, and darn near every wild critter except whale blubber. Here’s something else you might learn – don’t poach her Cajun…it’s an addiction disguised as lunch.

FAVORITE RELAXATION:

She never relaxes, she’s a born entrepreneur – and in her spare time she creates and sells her own line of letterpress cards, invitations, and custom designs. A beautiful balance of handcrafted design and heavy machinery!

Any place that sells shoes. Lots of shoes.

COOLEST THING she's SEEN LATELY:

Her booth, designed and then personally installed in one day at the National Stationery Show in New York City.
